4th Grade students created Mandalas, while learning about line and symmetry inspired by the traditional Tibetan art practice. The students created their own "pie slice" using the elements of art line and shape. Afterwards they traced the image inside a template circle eight separate times. Then they colored in their artwork using color as a design element. The students loved this project because each of them created their own artwork inspired by their own interested. They were also intrigued by the videos I showed them about symmetry and tibetan sand mandalas.
